SiRT Concludes Investigation into Injuries

The Interim Director of the Serious Incident Response Team (SiRT) found no reasonable grounds to believe that an off-duty officer of the Fredericton Police Force committed a criminal offence in connection with injuries sustained by a female.

On June 16, 2023, a female had attended the Twenty/20 Club in Fredericton, New Brunswick. She had a confrontation with security officers about their decision to deny entry to her friend, which escalated into a physical altercation. The Subject Officer was off duty but working for a private company as a security officer at the Club. As a result of the incident, the female sustained a fractured wrist.

The SiRT is responsible for investigating all matters that involve death, serious injury, sexual assault and intimate partner violence or other matters of a public interest to be investigated that may have arisen from the actions of any police officer in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. Investigations are under the direction and control of an independent civilian director, who has the sole authority to determine if charges should be laid at the conclusion of an investigation.
