Report Released Regarding Charges Against RCMP Officer
The province's independent Serious Incident Response Team (SiRT) has released its report in relation to charges of possession and distribution of child pornography against Cst. Jeffrey Hirsch, a member of the RCMP.
The charges are a result of an investigation that commenced on March 3, 2020 when RCMP contacted SiRT. Cst. Hirsch will make his first appearance in Provincial Court on August 26, 2020.
This report is released in accordance with the Police Act which requires a report to be filed within three months of the conclusion of an investigation.

SIRT is responsible for investigating all serious incidents involving police in Nova Scotia. Investigations are under the direction and control of independent civilian interim director John Scott, who is solely responsible for decisions respecting the laying of any charge.
