Report Finalized in RCMP Domestic Violence Allegation
The province’s Serious Incident Response Team (SiRT) has released its report regarding an April 15, 2014 allegation of domestic violence against an RCMP officer working at the Bridgewater Detachment.
On that date a woman made a complaint about her husband, alleging an assault from earlier in the day.
SiRT Investigators took statements from the woman and the officer. Their descriptions of the incident were very similar, although they differed on the specifics on the alleged application of force. However, even when considering the evidence as described by the complainant, the facts described a lawful use of reasonable force by the officer to reasonably protect his property. Therefore no charges will be laid in the matter.
