Serious Incident Response Team Oversees RCMP Investigation into firearms and impaired driving offences

On the afternoon of February 24, 2025, a member of the RCMP in Amherst contacted SiRT regarding an incident involving an off-duty officer of the Amherst Police Department.
Due to the circumstances and the need for an immediate response, the RCMP initiated the investigation, which is now complete. As this case is a matter of public interest, SiRT provided oversight of the RCMP investigation. SiRT Director Erin Nauss agreed with the RCMP’s conclusion.
On February 27, 2025, Christopher Jobe was charged with nine offences under Part III of the Criminal Code (firearms), and two offences related to operating a vehicle while impaired.
SiRT’s Summary of Investigation Oversight Report can be found here: Recent Publications | SiRT .
As the matter is before the courts, and in consideration of the fair trial interests of the accused, SiRT will not provide further comment on the investigation.
