No Evidence to Support Domestic Assault Allegation
On May 11, 2022, SiRT was contacted by the RCMP after receiving a complaint from a third party alleging a male RCMP officer committed an assault against a female known to him, the Affected Party (AP). SiRT began an investigation that day and concluded it on June 14, 2022.
As part of the investigation process, interviews were conducted with four civilian witnesses. The AP was not prepared to be formally interviewed by SiRT; however, she denied all allegations of being assaulted by the Subject Officer (SO).
The SO did not provide a formal statement to SiRT.
In these circumstances, there is insufficient evidence to reasonably believe an offence was committed. Therefore, there are no grounds to consider any charges against the officer.
