King’s RCMP Pursuit Leads to Investigation
Late Sunday evening King’s County RCMP responded to complaints received about a car being driven erratically near Aylsford, King’s County. They located the vehicle on Highway 221 and attempted a traffic stop. The car failed to stop and was pursued by police for a short period of time. Sometime later the police received a report of a car that had crashed into a field in Weston, King’s County. The car was the same car that had previously been pursued.
Two persons were found injured in the car. One was taken to the Valley Regional Hospital for treatment and observation. The other was taken to the QEII hospital with a broken arm and serious back injuries. As a result of the injuries the matter was referred to SiRT, who have assumed responsibility for the investigation.

The Serious Incident Response Team is responsible for investigating all serious incidents involving police in Nova Scotia, whether or not there is an allegation of wrongdoing.
The team can independently begin an investigation after a referral from a chief of police, the head of the RCMP in Nova Scotia or the Minister of Justice. It can also investigate after a complaint from the public.
The Police Act requires the director to file a public report summarizing the result of the investigation within three months after it is finished.
